Document was updated after signing

Hi,

when my client opened the downloaded document in adobe, it is showing the message (see attachment). as of I know, once document is signed for partial signed, there is not way to update the document, if so, what's the test it showed the message as "document was updated after signing'?

thanks,

Cindy

Hi Cindy,

Thanks for your post! A similar questions has been raised before and been confirmed by internal team that the observed behavior is the expected behavior.

This happens when there are more than one signer on the same document, once the first person signs, the document will be sealed. When the other signer(s) fills in text field, populates signing date, etc., it shows the document content was updated.

As the message displays, signed and all signatures are valid. Showing what changes were made to the document after signing is a feature of Adobe PDF reader and is a feature supported by the PDF standard.

Below is an example where John Smith signed first, then Mary Doe fills in a text field, populates the signing date and signed the signature. Open the signature panel allows you to see the history and view different versions of the document after each signer signed.

I tested and get the expected result as you explain. so actual document should be no issue, right? just the Adobe message is confused the people.

Also I have question regarding flatten version of PDF. I remember before I opened the flatten version of signed document in Adobe and it showed "signature is valid', but now the message is only showed when open unflatten PDF.

I attached the 2 flatten version, one is old and the other one is current, I opened in the same adobe, but old one shows the message, and current one doesn.t

any idea?

Hi Cindy,

Right, from what I understand there's no issue with the PDF.

In terms of the flattened PDF, the old version seems not flattened to me. When I opened the document properties > security tab, it shows that the PDF was password protected and I can't extract, reorganize pages or change the content.

Hi Duo,

one of the client saw the message "Signed and all signatures are valid, but with unsigned changes after the last signature" in the Adobe, any idea what it means?

I attached the form for your investigation.

thanks,

Cindy
