Mobile UI for Tablets

Currently the mobile UI (see attached) is only available on phones. Tablets present the desktop view of eSignLive. Is it possible to have the mobile view extended to tablets?

I believe the user-agent setting is what forces the mobile viewer. You should be able to force it by setting that to think it's a phone. Let me know.

Hi, by forcing the user-agent, do you mean changing the user-agent in the browser by using something like User Agent Switcher? Or do you mean programmatically forcing the user agent? If you mean programmatically forcing the user-agent, do you have an example? Thanks!

Hi Michael, can you advise what your other clients are doing when signing on tablets with a stylus? It seems like overriding the User Agent will have unwanted side effects on other aspects of our application that use the standard User Agent for responsive rendering. In addition, it will skew our device usage analytics.

Hey bradystjohn, This would have to be a native mobile application to set the user-agent, I think. The only other way would be the end-user changing something on their end to force the user-agent. At least as far as I cant tell. I don't see another way to do it otherwise. You could create a post in the enhancement ideas forum to ask for a feature to allow this.

stevehamilton, What issue are you having with the desktop view on a tablet with a stylus that would force you to need the mobile view?

We are finding that you can't click buttons using Apple Pencil on an iPad Pro and the iFrame is not sizing correctly. bradystjohn (above) and I are working on the same issue.

What instance of eSignLive are you on? Also, can you tell me more of what is happening when you click on the signature with the apple pencil? Does it simply not work with the pencil? Are you able to use your finger?

I believe we're using 10. We use sandbox.esignlive.com/apps.esignlive.com. It simply does not work with the pencil. Fingers work just fine. I've attached an image of our application where we have eSignLive in an iFrame. These screenshots were taken on iPad Pro. As you can see, the desktop view is presented even though we're on a tablet. As such, the width of the document displayed in the iFrame is off center. Improper display within iFrames is just a symptom of a problem with signing on tablets. The same errors occur when testing in the eSignLive sandbox. The problem is that using eSignLive on a tablet has a number of drawbacks. An ideal solution for us would be to extend the mobile site to include tablets (at least optionally).

That is just dummy info in that document image, correct? As for your instances, those are both on 11.x. I asked about version because there was an issue with signatures down the page that couldn't be signed based on another issue with iOS and iframes. There seem to be problems with this combo for lots of folks/applications, unfortunately. With the finger working to sign, I find it very interesting that the stylus doesn't sign. I do not have a stylus for my iPad. Is this something that comes with the iPad Pro? Or is it something I could pick up for my iPad and test it? Have you tried any other configurations for this page? For example, placing the iframe inside a div with overflow set to scroll? (Just throwing out suggestions since I can't test at this time) :) I think you should definitely post in the enhancement ideas forum I linked above. This feature (choosing mobile view or normal view) would be very helpful to lots of people, I think.

Yes, it is dummy data :) It's called the Apple Pencil. I don't think it comes with any of the iPads. It's an additional accessory: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MK0C2AM/A/apple-pencil-for-ipad-pro?afid=p238%7CsYsVDoapV-dc_mtid_1870765e38482_pcrid_163943642603_&cid=aos-us-kwgo-btb--slid--product- Yes, we've tried just about every configuration under the sun. Unfortunately, the same issues exist even when testing without an iFrame (on sandbox.e-signlive.com).

The Pencil ONLY works with iPad Pro. Signing works just fine -- it just won't click the OK buttons. So the person signing has to click a few times with the Pencil before giving up and using their finger to click OK. The iPad Pro with a Pencil is a very popular solution for our higher-end customers as it provides a really elegant signing solution. This is the Pencil: http://www.apple.com/apple-pencil/

I gotcha. I noticed you said it happened with sandbox, but I was taking that as prod and sandbox...not just straight inside the sandbox UI. Have you seen this issue with other sites/applications with pop ups like that?
